Over the one hundred years that my family has been making Armenian ceramics, we have added many designs of Jerusalem and related themes to our expanding repertory of tile designs. It is the only city that exists on earth and in heaven, and we have devoted this section to it.
The earliest map depicting and describing Jerusalem is the famous 6th century Byzantine era map, called the Madaba map. It was found in the city of Madaba, in Jordan, on the mosaic floor of a byzantine church.
The city of Jerusalem is important to all three monotheistic religions, and we have tiles representing important symbols of these religions. These include the Jerusalem Cross, the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, and the Holy Sepulcher.
