The tradition of making artistic tile started with my grandfather when in 1922 he and a group of talented artisans came over to Jerusalem from Kutahia, Turkey, to work on renovating the artistic tiles of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, which were in disrepair. Along with his partner, he set up a ceramic studio producing intricate and elegant artistic tile and pottery wares in Jerusalem.

It is 18 x 18 inches, and because the design is modular, it can be expanded to any size (multiples of 6 inches).

Today, we still make our artistic tiles in the same way as our elders did - colors, glazes, formulas, painting - in keeping with our family tradition. All our tiles are painted by us in our ceramics studio located in Jerusalem, where we have our kilns and workshop.

Features of our artistic tile:

• Tiles can be hung on the wall or installed permanently in a wall
• Tiles are made of ceramic, and painted, glazed and fired in our studio in Jerusalem. They are fired at 1850 ° F (1000 ° C), which means that the colors and glazes are sealed in permanently, and don't fade or wash away.
• Tiles withstand frequent cleaning using an all purpose tile cleaner
• Each hand painted tile is 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cm), and about a quarter of an inch thick standard wall tile

The tile dimensions are approximately 6x6 inches (15x15 cm). They are available framed with wood or unframed. A single framed tile costs US $38 and comes with a hanger (see back of framed tile).
